5 Little Peas

This is an old favorite! It's also surprisingly good for teaching rhythm.
I am always amazed at how classes of children never fail to say "POP" together at the end.

Five little peas in a peapod pressed:
One grew, two grew, so did the rest.
They grew, and they grew, and they did not stop,
Until one day they all went POP!
(Repeat with other hand)

*Optional second verse (two-handed):

Ten little peas in a peapod pressed:
Two grew, four grew, so did the rest.
They grew, and they grew, and they did not stop,
Until one day they all went POP!

Hold up a fist
Unfold thumb, pointer finger, then other fingers
Slowly expand hands and arms
Clap loudly on POP
